"And there really was not a lot of risk taken in how it was delivered.” With this quote Ms. Long Soldier was referring to the apology by the United States government to the Native Americans in 2009. The apology was not given the attention it should've and was very quiet with the way it was delivered to the Native American people and it can be seen as insincere.
“The arrival of Europeans opened a new chapter for Native People” — that’s crazy. Long Soldier was referring to how careful each phrase was presented and she refers to it as poetry because it is a different way of delivery to the Native American people than she might of. The details of the phrasing is important because they know that each sentence could carry multiple implications.
Specificity is important in this podcast because the listener can tell from Ms. Long Soldier that she has a problem with it herself. The apology in her opinion was not specific enough to the Native American people and the problems they faced in the past. In a podcast it especially important to explain all details in full and to make sure that the listener gets a good understanding for what's going on in the conversation and have an overall clear image since visual effects can't be used.
The structure of this interview is professional yet laid back. The interviewer helps keep the conversation going with Ms. Long Soilder by asking questions and keeping interest in the topic. She did a good job of making sure Long Soldier was comfortable and easy to understand. The tone of the podcast is sentimental as she talks about the past and how it connects to her present life as being a Native American woman today and the problems that still need to be fixed. With this interview I can interpret the skills used by Ms. Tippett and help me for my own interview
